About

Sallyann - Designer. Stylist. Mermaid

Sallyann first arrived in Devon on a ‘horizontal rain day’ in October 1987 to take up a post at the Burgh Island Hotel. It was love at first sight.

“Im a mermaid at heart and I  fell in love with the South Hams, the light, the beauty and coastline.  Ive never been able to leave”.

Sallyann stayed in Devon and has worked around Kingsbridge ever since.  Over the years, she has set up and been involved in a number of successful businesses’ in the town including, Pig Finca Emporium, Pig Finca Cafe and the much loved CherryCherry boutique - the fore-runner to Cherry LaLa - all of which have showcased her unique and creative talents for design, style and dedication to impeccable customer service.

“I chose Kingsbridge as I love its mix of residents and visitors, and of course it’s unique location!  It’s a town that encourages independent shops and artisans and the support of locals is invaluable - it’s been heartwarming to have welcomed so many familiar faces to Cherry LaLa”

Having taken a break from retail for personal reasons, Sallyann was lured back when she spotted an empty shop on Fore Street which was in need of some tender loving care.  Six months later, she had transformed the interior into a warm, inviting and feminine space where customers can browse undisturbed, or if they prefer have the undivided attention of Sallyann or one of her lovely ‘Cherry’ team members to recommend ‘just the thing’.

“I love the process of searching and choosing collections for the shop that I know will appeal to my customers.  And I love to see the joy it brings when ladies try things on they feel great in and find something to treasure”.
